Marlon Biography
Marlon A. Ruckle, was born in Guatemala City, Guatemala. He moved to the U.S. in 1990. He has been living in Santa Barbara, California for over 20 years. Marlon started dancing at Santa Barbara High School, where he was introduced to swing dance. After a couple of years he went to Santa Barbara City College where he joined the dance department and danced under Kay Fulton. He later became a member and officer for both the UC Santa Barbara Swing and Ballroom Dance Club, as well as the UC Santa Barbara Argentine Tango Club. He has studied many dance forms and has been dancing the tango since 2005. He has attended many tango festivals, where he has had the opportunity to study with some of the best dancers and teachers in the world. He has traveled to Argentina to continue the evolution of his tango dancing. The last couple of years he has been studying with Fernanda Ghi y Guillermo Merlo, who are two of the worlds best tango dancers, performers and teachers. Marlon continues his pursuit of the understanding and enjoyment of Tango.
When asked why he loves the tango he says, The reason why I love the Tango, its that it is not just a dance but a life style. It is a community that is very close, social and supportive of each other. It allows me the freedom to express different feelings, and allows me to connect and be creative with different orchestras and styles of music within the dance. I also like the connection you get from dancing so close to your partner. The way a subtle lead turns intricate and complex yet simple and smooth movemnet . Mostly I love the passion of the dance and how you can be in the moment and share it with another person.
