Testimonials
I have been taking private lessons from Angela and Roy for several months. Thanks to them, I can actually dance a decent basic Tango at a milonga and not worry that I will trip my partner! In fact, each time I dance with someone new, all of the basic knowledge that Angela has been drilling into my head will suddenly come to mind and help me continue to learn on my own. I can hear her now, saying (sometimes sternly!), “Keep your axis”, “Take your space”, “Collect”, “Complete each step”, “Keep your frame”, “Contra body”!
Individually, Angela and Roy have very different teaching styles. Angela, with her focus on form and technique, breaks down the dance to its elements so that you can literally see every angle of movement and why it is necessary to perfect it. Her understanding of the lead and follow format of Tango is amazing and essential to mastering improvisation.
Roy teaches by dancing, moving, concentrating on feeling the music and connecting with your partner. Emphasizing a light touch, he teaches you how to adjust the balance between relaxation and tension in your body to both maintain your frame and communicate with your partner. . .
As a teaching team, they complement each other perfectly. You just get every aspect of how to learn the dance. I am now starting to attend the group classes and milongas with this great foundation they have given me. I would highly recommend taking as many privates as you can in the beginning. Have confidence that if you study with Angela and Roy, you will learn to dance Tango!
Thank you both for your passion and your (continued) patience!

Angela-
I wanted to tell you how very much I appreciate the lessons you have given to me in Argentine Tango. The exercises and lessons have greatly improved my coordination and balance. As you know, I was injured in an accident in 2007 suffering a broken hip and wrist. Although given good care and physical therapy, I still had difficulty with walking and balance. Tango requires high levels of balance and coordination. You were able to show me how to overcome these obstacles using specific exercises and practice.
Not only have your lessons given me back my balance and coordination, I have regained the confidence lost due to the accident. I recently went to a dance event and for the first time in three years, I felt confident in being able to dance with a partner. I look forward to many more Tango lessons now that my self-confidence is back. Hopefully I will not become unbearable.
Please know that your teaching does yield good results, probably in ways you did not know. Your dedication is very much appreciated. You have brought me much more than a few dance steps. My life is so much better now than it was before Angela, and before Tango.

For me, the essence of tango is social dancing. My lessons with Angela have been invaluable, because what she teaches speaks so directly and so fundamentally to my social dancing. Each lesson leaves me with a technique that I can apply immediately. I find myself unconsciously "using my lesson" at the very next dance occasion.
She is truly interested in helping me achieve my goals, and is always open and receptive to questions. She does not mind reviewing an aspect of the dance as many times as it is necessary for me to master it. More important, she does not focus on "steps" but rather the feeling of tango.
I would recommend her to anyone who loves tango.
